I went to Ignite based on the reviews on Yelp and I must say, this was the BEST salon experience I have ever had. I would never even think to write a review about services, but these guys truly deserve the shout out. I went in just for a trim and I was surprised by the amazing service they offer. I was pampered and rejuvenated by Curtis - a fine professional who clearly loves what he does. The products smell amazing, the music was chill, and the wine was delicious! And of course, I am thrilled with my haircut! I certainly felt like a Victoria's Secret model walking out of that place. Do yourself a favor and Go.

In my opinion this hidden gem is one of the best hair salons in Vancouver! I used to get my hair done by a major chain salon in downtown. Made the switch to Ignite for a couple of years ago after a friend recommended them to me, and have never looked back. Here's my rundown on the joint.

Staff: Super friendly, personable, and most importantly they know what they're doing! I get a killer cut every time I go.
Salon: Modern, clean, nice high end feel to it.
Price: Guy's cuts run around $40 before tip. Comparable to all of the other mid - high end salons in the area. Every cut includes a scalp massage, shampoo/conditioning, styling, plus free coffee/tea/water.

First off: AMAZING service! I walked right in and was greeted almost immediately, my coat was hung and I was offered a smock and something to drink while I waited. I was even offered "Before And After" pictures of my haircut!

The staff were all friendly and my hairstylist, Harley, was absolutely fabulous. I had longish hair that hadn't been styled in a very long time and I really wanted to get a bob. Now I've bad experiences with hairstylists where they didn't listen and just did their own thing, because they didn't get it, with not-so-good results. So I was really nervous at first but was soon reassured by Harley's enthusiastic shop talk. She'd throw in suggestions and gave me options with what I wanted to do, I was very impressed.

I definitely recommend this salon to any and all!

Was referred to Curtis Hunter by a friend and I have been getting my hair cut/coloured by Curtis about every 5 weeks for almost a year now. I sit in the chair and I say "I trust you" and every appointment is like he's reading my mind. I don't ever have to drop hints or make "suggestions" while he's styling my hair bc, somehow, he knows exactly what look I'm going for and he knows how to make it look even better! He listens really well to what you want too, so don't be reserved about discussing with him what style you want, bc he's very receptive and warm. Trust him though, he knows what looks good when it comes to hair, so take his advise if he makes a suggestion for you. He also pays surgeon-like attention to detail. Every haircut I get is a little different from the last, and every colour he's suggested to dye my bangs I've loved. He's a super well-rounded and skilled stylist.

I have short hair with heavy swoopy bangs, and it has taken a long time to find a stylist who is amazing at short, edgy yet feminine haircuts. It was his idea to put fusia peek-a-boo streaks in my bangs and it was a major hit. I've never received more compliments or been as happy/excited about my hair in my life.

The other staff members at Ignite are also extraordinary. Nicki is so attentive and personable, always asking if there's anything you would like from water to wine, she makes it a comfortable experience every time you walk in the door.

Everyone at Ignite makes your hair appointment feel like you're hanging out with friends. It really is like a lounge rather than a salon. Five gold stars all the way!

I have to agree with the previous posts about Ignite - they are super!!

Having years of Toni & Guy haircuts behind me, I was nervous of getting my hair done anywhere but there. With my love and dedication to my regular stylist, I had anticipated having her do my hair for my wedding last year. Well, being a girl of convenience, and living above Ignite, I thought I would talk to one of the stylists to see what he could do for my hair for my wedding day. Curtis was so helpful and sweet when I came in to discuss options! I was nervous, as I had just gotten my hair cut a week before my wedding, and showed up a few days prior for a test run of what we would be doing. Curtis micro-curled and back combed my hair and gave me an idea of what I could expect on the big day, reassuring me that regardless of the haircut, we would be able to create the look I so badly wanted. I woke up the day of my wedding feeling very confident in what the Ignite team would be doing... when I arrived, they offered me some tea... and a glass of wine for my nerves! lol. But as I sat there and watched my hair come together, I was so excited and couldn't wait to zip off to be married!

It wasn't just Curtis who made it a memorable day, but Van also had her input in the make-up application. I am typically a mascara and lipgloss girl, but Van was great, she listened to what I wanted and didn't send me off looking like a drag queen (I once visited MAC and got a complimentary make-up application... never again!! lol) And the red lipstick was the icing on the cake... she was even nice enough to lend me the tube for the day so I could reapply it as I needed.

Honestly, they are a great team there and I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a stylist or make-up artist! :)

I went to ignite after a mishap at another hair salon. I had a big event to go to and Kurtis though busy with another client, saw I was desperate and helped me. He saved the day!

I returned recently and had a trim and highlights done, Kurtis did it in half the time it normally takes and his highlights are the best I've had in Vancouver. Plus it is reasonable. He is a perfectionist and makes them look totally natural. He cares that you look good and it shows. I am going back!
